This brooch measures in at just a smidge under three inches and is quite heavy! White metal with a gold wash that has long since worn away, leaving the soft, warm silver color to catch your eye. The large 1 3/4 inch faceted red glass stone is set for the torso. Smaller chatons for the eyes and antennae. The winged insect motif is open to interpretation! A moth or butterfly seems the obvious choice. It does have four little legs. The photo seems to show a chip, it is simply a reflection glancing off one of the facets. No chips or cracks. Ca., 1940's -50's and in very good vintage condition.
