Sublime 15 Inch Smiling Bru Poupée French Bisque Fashion Lady

This wonderful fashion lady has a regal presence that belies her diminutive 15 inch stature. This lovely example from Leon Casimir Bru, circa 1872, has a delightful Mona Lisa smile and an antique costume that looks original. She is marked with the letter "D" on the back of her head. Her gorgeous glass tri-color eyes are gray blue with darker rims. She has thin feathered brows, painted upper and lower lashes, pale coloring, pierced ears with faux garnet drop earrings, and closed mouth with delicately painted and accented lips and slightly upturned corners. Her pale bisque swivel head and shoulder plate are excellent with no hairlines, damages or repairs. There is a flake at one earring hole and a very slight bobble to the painting of her right upper eyelash. She wears an antique brown human hair wig over her original cork pate in a fancy braided style with long curls in the back. Her kid leather body is very sturdy with wear mostly just on the arms and hands as shown. She has separately stitched fingers and toes. Her antique silk ecru costume is heavily detailed and of wonderful quality, but is extremely fragile. As you can see from the pics, the silk is shattering. The skirt has a long train and makes a beautiful presentation. Her ensemble is completed with antique silk shoes. What a beauty!
