The lovely early bebe has the look of the portrait Jumeau and bears the early mark with the size number (6) over the initials EJ. She has pale pressed bisque with no hairlines or repairs. There is a flaw in the making which caused a little fold in the right cheek. You can feel it with your finger, and it casts a bit of a shadow. It has been looked at very carefully with blacklight and magnification, but it is just an imperfection and not a damage. The head has a very small chip at one earring hole, and several chips at the neck opening as shown. She has multi-stroke eyebrows, mauve eye shadow, painted upper and lower eyelashes, deep brown glass paperweight eyes that have been reset, evenly blushed cheeks, pierced ears with green glass earrings, and a closed mouth with delicately outlined lips and small white space between. Her original, early, fully jointed wood/compo body has loose ball joints at the shoulders and hips, as well as straight wrists with slightly cupped hands. It has some wear, but maintains its original finish with some reddish scrub marks on the thighs. It bears the original blue Medaille D'or stamp on the derriere. She wears a wonderful pale blonde antique mohair wig with fetching bangs and gentle curls. Her vintage silk dress is accented with antique cotton lace and is a pale aqua green that complements her very fancy green bonnet, more recently made by a talented artist. Her black Jumeau shoes are stamped on the soles with the bee symbol, but are not original to her. They have intact toe decorations but are missing the buttons. This dainty beauty has a wonderful presence, and the early mark is hard to find. She is priced a bit less due to the issues mentioned, but is a very worthwhile addition to any fine French collection.
