I was called via phone by strangers that demanded I get over to their yard to view antique textiles. Since it was not too far from home and outside in their yard I proceed to go. They had a large antique trunk full of antique textiles. They did not know what to make of the items. I purchased most including a bridal satin fabric that I sold to a bride-to-be who was adding on to her dress. She purchased the fabric from the photo...and it matched perfectly!! I sold a printed linen panel to a women who collected such items and she was over-joyed! Now I am offering this black silk velvet long Victorian skirt. I have it with the red silk faille multi-layered ruffled cape bodice or jacket. If you let out the basting stitches it becomes a long jacket!
The fabric has an slight antique velvet pattern. There is no zipper, only a hook and eye. The inside of the shirt waistband is of inter-facing.
The black velvet skirt is in very good antique condition. It needs a cleaning to freshen it up after being in that trunk for sooo many years! It has quite a large waist. It is difficult to find Victorian items in such large sizes.
Here are the measurements.....
I do have a few antique clothing items in my shop including two black jackets and one red silk faille cape bodice / jacket.
