This SOLA ZILVER Boxed dessert set for Petit-Fours and Tarts was made by M.J. Gerritsen at the beginning of the 20 Century. The company was founded in 1909 by MJ Gerritsen. It was know as the first Dutch factory of new silverware. In 1925 the name was officially changed to Gerofabriek NV, although that name was used for many years. Solafabriek is a name that is also indicated on the box.
There are 12 silver-plated dessert forks and one cake cake knife All of the pieces are embossed with assorted floral handles...with the names of the flowers embossed on each handle in Dutch. There is a 90 embossed on the back of each piece which indicates 90 grams of silver. SOLA is also imbossed on the backs.
The dessert forks measure 5" long & 3/4" wide at prongs. The dessert knife measures 7 1/2" long & 2" at widest spot. The original box shows some wear, but is in tact.
The flowers and names are in Dutch as follows:
Margriet Crocus Roos Viooltje Papaver Lelietjesvd...2 forks Anjer Orchidee Tulip Klaver Bladcactus
I had difficulty getting any information on this company from the internet and I could not find any other items from this factory.
