Hard to find Mid Century Modern Metal Sculptures of metal round discs with a cut-out centers. I was informed that these came from the home of Artist / Sculpture Arthur Glickman of Teaneck New Jersey who was born in 1928 and passed in 2011 at the age of 88. I was also informed that these two Mid Century Modern Metal Sculptures were his. However, I looked on line and only found sculptures of nudes and religious subjects. However, he might have dabbled in geometrics before he sculptured nudes?
Mr. Glickman had a art studio in Manhattan for many years. Before he entered the art field he worked for his families business which was a men's clothing chain. In 1970 he sold the family business and went to art school. His work was exhibited in over 50 art galleries and museums in 15 states. His work won many awards.
The round disc painted and glazed sculptures are in excellent vintage condition. On some, the glaze is coming off on the very edges. The discs are mounted on heavy black metal tray. There are a few scattered smudges which can be seen very close up. I suggest cleaning the art work and applying a spray wax to achieve a sheen. The black metal has a mat finish. The back on both are marked with the number 030 . The both measure 39" x 15.5".
Each of the two sculptures are the same. These were displayed together on a wall. They would also make interesting inserts on a door or screen.
They are priced per piece and not per pair.
