DIFFERENT...original piece of hand made and designed clay pottery bowl with the impression of pieces of corn on the cob impressed all around the outside. This large clay pottery bowl was signed TERRAFIRMA 1979. It was purchased along with a modern style pottery vase signed SELFRIDGE 1979. The location was on a street corner in Manhattan just below 14th on the East Side...near Union Square. I was walking along the street and spotted this unusual pottery and purchased it right on the spot. I had no intention of buying pottery at that time...but both pieces were so unusual I just had to have them. The vase by Selfridge will be next in my shop.
I see on the internet that TERRAFIRMA POTTERY was founded in 1980 by Ellen Evans of NYC. My piece was purchased in 1979 a year before she officially went into business. I love the bowl and it will be hard to part with. It is in the same excellent condition that I purchased it in 1979 when I was in the wholesale accessory business. I was walking around selling my collection and also looking for component parts for my hair ornament collection which I sold to the major retailers.
The bowl measures 6.5" tall x 9.5" rim to rim x 30.5" circumference.
PLEASE NOTE: The weight will be determined after it is ready to be shipped via USPS.
