This pair of Juttis...Traditional MAHARAJAH shoes were gotten at the New York City Opera auction last Fall. They closed their doors for good. The traditional MAHARAJAH shoes were made for the opera HAROUN & the Sea of Stories by Salman Rushdie. The story is based on a children's book. It was performed in 2004.
The shoes are hand stitched by Ballet Makers in leather with metallic gold embroidery. The inner heel also has the name Capezio who is a famous shoe company that make ballet shoes. There is also a brown tape on the inner side of shoe that has the name of the opera, HAROUN, and BUTT HERSCHENFELD. They are marked a size 14.5.
The shoes would be a big hit at a party or used as a display.
