Vintage SCHRAFFT's New York Landmark Series Dinner Menu: The United Nations. Schrafft's was owned by Frank G. Shattuck Company. They imported their waitresses from Ireland and they housed them in the NY area. They were an institution. My Mom took me to two of their locations. One was across the street from Lord & Taylor on Fifth Ave. We would go there after shopping at Peck & Peck, Arnold Constible, Altman's, Russek's, and Lord & Taylor. We lunched at their downtown restaurant near 14th Street & Union Square when we met my Aunt Esta for her lunch break. She worked near at the Amaligamated Bank. We then went shopping at Orbach's & S Klein on the Square! My Mom gave me my education on the construction of garments and on current fashions. This helped when I "grew up" and entered the fashion field.
