Each Tuxedo jacket made from antique kimono silk patches and silk lined with gold silk is an original. YVONNE O'GARA began designing her collection of vests and tuxedo jackets in the late 1980's under the name of Yvonne O'Gara Collections. She formerly was part of the Ralph Loren design team. She is currently designing silk scarfs and home fashions thro pillows in the same antique silk kimono collages.
The Tuxedo Kimono jacket is very well made. Shoulders are padded with deep cut armholes. The black silk lapel is wide at the shoulder and narrow into the deep "V" neckline that extends down to the waist where the jacket is more fitted. The tuxedo jacket also features a pair of hand bound hand warmer pockets. The jacket also has a flat frog closing near waist. This jacket can be worn as a jacket to pants or a skirt and over a dress or jumpsuit.
Please note that the collage of silk fabrics are from antique kimonos. The beige print ground fabric on the back shows a scattering of light honey beige spots from age. It looks very natural and is not offensive. There is a tiny...1/8" tear on the red ground print near the bottom front which is near the side seam. A tailor can repair it easily. You can wear a piece of history on your back! What were these kimono clad women like??
