Another dress from the estate of PAIGE MORTON BLACK the HEAVENLY COFFEE jingle singer who later became the wife of Charles Black..the founder of CHOCK FULL o'Nuts Coffee empire. Paige was a Cabaret singer when she auditioned for the jingle in the mid 1950's. This was one of her entertainment dresses. She seemed to favor the same style with little variations by different designers / dressmakers.
This dress has the label of SOULTANA FOSKOS / New York. The wrap dress is made of a fine buttery wool crepe. it is lined in red silk. Framing the neckline and sleeve cuffs is a fancy silky off white passementary trim. Both the deep 'V' neckline and sleeve cuffs as well as the front wrap and hemline are flounced. The wrap dress is fastened with large silver tone metal snaps...the quality one cannot find new in today's market.
I purchased 9 dresses from this estate in New Rochelle, New York. All are similar in design. These would lend themselves to a theater production where the actors wear similar clothing.
