Rich Jewel-Tone novelty woven wool plaid chemise dress from the 1960's by designer David Chablis of New York & Paris. The jewel tones are deep rich with some brightness. The colors photograph brighter than they actually are. The woven wool plaid fabric features a vertical over-stitch which was popular in the 1950's & 60's. This type of over-stitch was also used in cottons during that same time period.
This size 16 chemise dress features shoulder pads which can easily be removed. The dress also has a dropped waist band sash that gives it style. The dress has no holes or tears but does have a few very, very small light stains on the front of the sash. I did not notice these small stains until I was photographing the dress. No one will notice it when it is being worn. This dress has not been cleaned recently. It was stored away. Cleaning could remove the spots and if it doesn't...no one will notice. The pleats are sewn in and permanently pressed. The sash is lined and the remainder of the dress is not lined. The wool is high quality and when worn does not irritate normal skin. If there is a problem a slip or undershirt can be worn. The sleeves are three quarter long and cuffed with the same color as the sash. The sleeves are 6.75" wide measured flat on one side and are 13.5" wide in circumference.
