Elegant black Designer quality contour sheath dress from the 1960's on black cloque / matelasse patterned of blister dots on a textured background. This fabric was popular near the end of the 1950's into the 1960's. I was working for a textile mill in 1963 and we were designing cloque / matelisse patterns not only in black but in the colors of the that season. I remember in doing them in pastels and also brights! The dress is completely lined with black acetate. It has a scooped neck and long fitted sleeves and a half of a shoulder pad which I would not remove. Re-embroidered black Alanson lace measures 9.5" high at the hem. The lace features both black sequins and round beads embroidered on the lace. You just do not see this quality anymore!
I just found a small white fiber content label. The cloque is 70% Acetate / 30% Viscose; the lace is 74% cotton / 26% nylon. The lining is 100% acetate. Dry Clean ONLY..Made In The USA #25317.
I do not detect any defects in the fabric. I do recommend dry cleaning. It has been store for so many years.
The measurements are as follows:
SHOULDER TO SHOULDER...16"
ZIPPER...Long Back Nylon Zipper
PLEASE NOTE: The dress was too small for my dress form & the photos did not come out very well. I will have to take more pictures; the dress is really very special!
