I believe that this is James Beard's first cook book. The FIRESIDE Cook Book was published by Simon & Schuster in 1949. This one is from the 8th printing. It is chocked full of 1217 recipes. It contains 322 pages and the Index has 16 pages!
It contains a complete guide to Fine Cooking for beginners to experts. It contains over 400 color pictures. The wonderful illustrations are by Alice & Martin Provensen. The book measures 10" x 8" and has a paper dust jacket that shows wear. The marigold textured cloth cover is in very good condition.
The homemaker that owned this book thought a lot of the recipes! She underlined the ones that she liked. This should help you select the good ones! The pages are in good condition. If you like to cook, you will ENJOY using it!
Please look at the attached pictures. This book will be hard for me to part with!
Have you seen the rest of my shop? It is quite interesting! Thanks!
