This is a fun brass inkwell that depicts a man sitting on the ground eating away a chicken. His hat is on the ground beside him and that is where the nibs of the pen were stored. His legs that are straight out from him held the pen and the top of his head comes up (hinge in the back) where the ink was stored. There is a metal insert that comes out. All original and in perfect condition. Love the patina on this heavy piece. Overall size is 6 ½” x 6 ½” x 4” approximately.
