Handsome trout-like fish, facing to left with smaller fish about to jump behind him. Green water plants abound in green water. Deeply scalloped edges are richly burnished with gold enamel. Two of scallops serve as shallow handles.
Signed by J. Barin, listed artist, Borgfeldt’s Coronet mark # 1, used 1906-1920 (Gaston, p. 71); maker’s mark is Coiffe’s seven-pointed star with letters of Limoges on points used 1891-1914 (Gaston, mark #2, p. 90).
Condition is excellent, except for an old 1" hairline from the edge, above the left side cartouche (see photo closeup). This shows more on the back than the front. Pricing is adjusted down for this flaw.
We have three of these plates, all signed and each one a bit different. Be sure to visit all three.
