Green and deep red, with a white lid to sugar bowl. Fired colors on Platonite in Moderntone pattern. Platonite is H/A’s patented opaque white glass which they made from 1936 into the 1950s.
The creamer is colored deep burgundy red with a fired-on matte glaze to both inside and out; only the underside is unglazed. The sugar bowl has a Platonite lid which boasts a sturdy and clever inverted cone handle. The bowl is colored bright green, including the underside and the handles. The inside is white.
The underside of the creamer shows the distinctive Hazel Atlas embossed mark with a capitol H straddling a capitol A. The sugar bowl and lid are unmarked. (Although we have seen other Hazel Atlas Platonite sugar bowls with lids, we cannot be certain that this lid goes to this set. Our point of concern is that the sugar bowl has no inner lip, though the lid does.)
Both pieces measure 3 ¾” wide across rim x 3” tall. The lid to the sugar bowl is about 3 ¼” in diameter.
Condition of all three pieces is excellent, no chips, scratches or other damage. These would look great on a Christmas party table!
