Bright and assertive, this is a large diamond-shaped hand painted planter made by Myott Pottery of Staffordshire. The top of the planter is a large diamond shape painted brown to match the smaller diamond-shaped foot. The sides consist of stripes of graduated lengths, painted in bright warm colors of orange, yellow and pale green.
The planter measures 10 ¾” long x 6” wide (or deep) x 5 ¾” tall. The Base is 6 3/8” long x 3 7/8” wide.
Recessed foot bears the gold Myott mark under a Crown over Made in England and Hand Painted. It is stamped again in red with Made in England. One side of the mark is hard to read unless held under a light.
Condition is excellent with no cracks, scratch marks, chips or crazing. There are a couple of paint skips which are not noticeable. There is no flower frog with this piece, but we don’t think there was meant to be as it is called a planter (there is a similarly sized piece that is a vase).
This bright and eclectic planter will be a hit with a trailing plant in it, or gracing your Art Deco or Myott collection.
