Two orioles sit on a double stump in this stunning bird figurine by the Stangl Pottery. The birds are painted with identical markings of yellow and muted red on a glossy black ground. Their black eyes are ringed with dull white. One bird, sitting on a tall stump, is looking upward while the other one, on the lower stump, looks down. They are a very striking pair.
They measure 6 5/8” tall x about 4 ½” wide
The figurine is stamped on the bottom, under the glaze, in red with Stangl, all in caps, inside an oval. Also impressed with shape number 3402 and D (the D is for double figurine). The artist’s initials MW are inked under the glaze; MW is for Margaret Walsh of Stangl’s Trenton Pottery.
The condition is excellent with no chips, cracks, scratches or crazing. These handsome birdies are ready to join your collection!
