This is a charming little Myott pitcher with a very broad mouth, hand painted with bright yellow and orange flowers, green leaves and brown stems on a cream colored ground. The handle is orange.
Measures 6 1/8” tall x 6” spout to handle end x about 4 ½” diameter. Marked on underside with gold Myott mark, a crown over Myott, Son & Co. / Made in England over (also in gold) B.A.G. Co. Ltd. / Hand Painted. Below this is the item number, 9445, in black ink.
There are no cracks or scratches and no crazing to the little pitcher and there seems to be no paint loss. But there is an old chip to the foot, about ½” x ¼” which is sad! We have set the price to reflect the condition and hope that you will enjoy owning this bright little item in spite of its defect.
The Myott Pottery was built in 1901 on the site of the former Brownfield Pottery at Cobridge, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, UK (The Potteries online). The Art Deco style jugs and vases in bright, assertive colors and unusual geometric shapes for which the firm is famous, were made there during the 1930s.
