Here is a handsome little espresso cup and saucer set, both pieces square with rounded corners, and a triangular handle to the cup. Both pieces are adorned with an abstract foliate motif in heavy sterling silver enamel. The edges of both pieces and the cup handle are all trimmed in the same silver. The cup measures 1 7/8” square x 2” tall. The saucer is 3” square and 4” corner to corner x 5/8” high. There is a small recessed pedestal ¼” high x 1 ½” square.
The cup is marked on the underside with Victoria over a crown and Austria below, all in dark green. The saucer is not marked as the cobalt glaze covers it entirely except for the unglazed table ring.
The sterling paint on both pieces polished up nicely. There is surface wear to the silver enamel on both pieces, more significant to the handle and rim of the cup; much lighter on the cup and saucer. There is no damage to either piece except for a really tiny utensil mark to the center of the saucer. Overall condition: excellent with some silvering loss, but no chips, cracks or crazing. An unusual little espresso set for a collection.
