Here we have a beautiful cobalt and gold porcelain demitasse cup and saucer set with the inner walls of the cup covered in gold enamel and the outside boasting the finest gold filigree stencils all around. (The cup is almost conical with the top more than an inch wider than the base.) The saucer is adorned with the same gold enamel filigree work and a band of gold around the cup well. The well itself is pure white porcelain and so is about 1/4” inside the top of the cup. The bottoms of both pieces also are white. The effect of all this is dramatic!
Cup measures 2 ¾” wide at top x 1 1/8” diameter at foot. The saucer is 4 ¾” in diameter.
Both pieces are marked in gold with the word Royal, crowned and underscored, over Porzellan / Bavaria / KM / Germany / handarbeit (meaning handwork). This is a variant of the standard company mark which has KPM at its center rather than just KM. The mark here was used only from 1950-1958. Both pieces are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, scratches or crazing. There is just a bit of darkening to the gold inside the cup; otherwise: Wunderschoen!
