Sculpted ruffles adorn the bottom edge of this lovely wide-rimmed Limoges demitasse. The top edge is ringed with sculpted scallops while the walls, inside and out, are festooned with small pink roses and green leaves. The saucer echoes the top edges of the cup and is adorned with three clusters of the pink roses. The cups handle is stippled with gold enamel and ends in gold ribbons. There are little outlines of leaves in gold around the handle as well. The fourth photo shows the lovely translucence and delicate sculpting of the eggshell porcelain.
The saucer measures 4 ¾” in diameter x ¾” high. The cup is 1 ¾” tall x 3 ¼” wide at the rim x 1 ¾” across the foot.
The mark in green is Haviland arched over France which is in a straight line. This mark was used from 1894-1931 (Gaston, p. 178, mark 12). The mark in red indicates that the decorating was also done by Haviland Limoges.
Condition is excellent with no chips, cracks, scratches or crazing. Very sweet, unusual, lovely.
