This is a romantic little demi tasse set with gold enamel at all the edges and a combination of art deco and art nouveau elements in the design. Below the gold rim of the cup is a geometric band in pink, green and white. This is repeated below the rim inside the cup and again on the saucer below the gold rim at the edge. On both the cup and saucer, these linear bands are above tiny garlands of pink roses with green leaves against the pure white of the porcelain. The gold trim is carried out generously on the little loop handle, around the recessed foot, and around the cup well in the saucer.
The cup measures 2 1/8” tall x 2 1/8” wide at rim x 1 ½” diameter at foot. The saucer is 4 ½” wide x ¾” high.
Marks in red on both pieces: Theodore Haviland (in script with Theodore underscored) above Limoges (also in script) above France (in block letters). This mark was used c.1904-mid 1920s (Gaston, p.180, mark 34).
Condition is excellent with a bit of wear to the gold around the well in the saucer. There are no chips, cracks or scratches and no crazing. It’s lovely!
