This is an elegant chocolate cup made in Germany by R.S. (Rheinhold Schlegelmilch). Covered with white and beige glaze, the outside of the cup is adorned more than half way around with white blown tulips, leaves and buds. The gold around the rim continues into the top of the inside and is repeated in a band at the foot and three stripes along the tall, pointed handle. Tall and slender, the cup measures about 3 ½“ tall x 2 1/8” across the rim.
The mark under the glaze in blue is a five-pointed star over an evergreen wreath with RS at center and Germany below. This was used from 1904-1920 (Collectible Cups and Saucers, Harran, mark # 147, p. 370).
The condition is excellent with a bit of wear to the gold inside the rim and two tiny underglaze specks. There are no chips, scratches, cracks or crazing to this lovely old chocolate cup.
