This is a dainty demitasse (or demi tasse) with matching saucer in pure white bone china, covered with gold enameled forget-me-nots over most of outside surfaces and then draping inside the flared top of the cup. The flat bottom edge of the cup also is ringed in gold. The cup measures 2” wide at rim x 2” tall x 1 ¾” across base. The saucer is 3 7/8” in diameter.
On undersides are a form of Hammersley’s acorns and crown mark, over the glaze in green. This rendition was used 1939-1950s (Collectible Cups and Saucers, Harran, Vol 3, Mark # 53, p. 362). Condition is excellent with no chips, cracks, scratches or crazing. Small spots of rubbing wear on the gold, nothing notable.
Couldn’t be much sweeter!
We have recently acquired a marvelous estate collection of cups and saucers - mostly demitasse, espresso, and chocolate cups - and will be listing them in small batches over the next few weeks. This is an eclectic collection, with one common element: they were all chosen as pieces of exceptional quality and taste.
