This is a beautiful Copeland/Spode demitasse set with a ribbed cup and a scalloped saucer. Both pieces are adorned with lovely garden flowers, all around and inside the cup and abundantly on the saucer, but with ample pure white areas to set them off. The rims of both pieces are caramel colored (or mustard) and very striking.
The cup measures 2” in diameter x 2 3/8” tall x 1 ½” at base. The saucer is 4 5/8” in diameter x 1” high.
Undersides are marked under the glaze in bright green block letters with Spode / Copeland’s China / England. Also marked Chelsea Garden in pink. Chelsea Garden was made from 1952-1988.
Condition is excellent with no chips, cracks, scratches or crazing. It’s lovely and ready to join your collection or help you start one!
We have recently acquired a marvelous estate collection of cups and saucers - mostly demitasse, espresso, and chocolate cups - and will be listing them in small batches over the next few weeks. This is an eclectic collection, with one common element: they were all chosen as pieces of exceptional quality and taste.
Cups and saucers - especially the diminutive demitasse - make a wonderful Christmas present for someone special. If you're interested in a particular maker or style you don't see, please email us, and we may have it on hand.
