These pretty porcelain half dolls both have lovely facial features, delicately painted, and hold bouquets of flowers.
The doll to the left wears a white Volendam bonnet with an orange band, a blue necklace, green bodice and pink shawl. Bodice and shawl are matte; all other areas are glazed. Measures 3 1/16” tall; impressed with 14695; probably German. There is a tiny chip to the right tip of the Dutch bonnet which can be felt, but doesn’t show. Otherwise condition is perfect and the doll is especially sweet!
The doll to the right boasts an elaborate 18th century style hair-do, done up with a ribbon in the shape of an arrow. Her blue frock is trimmed with white. All in glazed porcelain except for hair and blue part of dress which are matte. Doll measures 3” tall; signed inside with SBH and 7E. There is an unfortunate small chip to the arrow-shaped ornament in her hair which can be seen in the first photo. There is no other damage of any kind and, by itself, this is a treasure of a porcelain half doll. The two together are a charming pair – and would make a great start for a new collection!
