Here we have a beautiful hand painted Royal Worcester blush ivory cream pitcher made of spear-shaped leaves in sculpted porcelain. The leaves are all pulled upward to form the spout and rim, except for one which is turned downward to make the handle. The handle, the top and bottom edges, and all the hand painted flowers which cover the piece are adorned with 22K gold. The outer side of the handle, all in gold, is especially striking. The flowers are finely colored and detailed, and display the naturalistic themes of Worcester's blush ivory line.
Pitcher measures 4 3/4” tall x 4” wide (spout to handle end) x 2 5/8” across base.
Underside bears Royal Worcester mark in green with Royal Worcester England added, but no dots, which makes the date 1891 (Godden’s #4354). There are several letters and numbers in ink and an incised number which looks to be 27. Condition is excellent with just a bit of gold loss to the tip of the spout and a tiny kiln pop to the inside of the leaf handle. Inside floor has a small dark spot under the glaze, not seen on exterior.
Our photos cannot do justice to this gorgeous and delicate pitcher.
