We have here a small handsome Wedgwood vase of deep cobalt blue jasperware. It is ringed with five lovely white cameo tableaux from classical mythology. These are separated by geometric cameos, all matching. Above is a cameo band in a foliate motif. The effect of all this is stunning. The vase itself is sturdy and thick-walled; the jasper dip goes as far as one can see into the neck and covers the underside of the pedestal. Measures 4 ¾” tall x 3 ½” wide at center x 2 ½” across the recessed pedestal. Flute-shaped mouth is 2 ¼” wide; neck opening just under an inch wide.
Underside of foot is incised with Wedgwood with an encircled R next to it. On the other side it is incised Made In / England and 75. There is also an etched HS, probably the decorator’s initials. The 75 means made in 1975; the R for registered was added to the mark the same year (Etruria Antiques Gallery on-line). The condition is excellent with no flaws or damage. The cameos are clean and bright as is the jasper dip. This is a good one. Don’t let it get away!
