This fetching porcelain figurine depicts a gleeful little ethnic Chinese boy with his hands in his pockets, bent forward with laughter, his mouth wide open and eyes nearly closed. His facial features are delicately painted; his cheeks are rosy and his eyebrows very fine. He wears a turquoise jacket over a gray shirt, and black trousers; his shoes are trimmed in red. Part of Royal Worcester’s widely collected Chinoiserie Series, figurine measures 5” tall x 1 5/8” wide at pedestal.
Royal Worcester mark in black with W underneath and one dot means made in 1951; figurine number is 3354 (Charlton Standard Catalogue of Royal Doulton Figurines, vol.2, 2000 ed., pp. xi and 111. Page 111 of Catalogue features a photo of this figurine). Condition is excellent with no damage of any kind and no crazing.
