This austere character is the Royal Doulton miniature figurine of Fuzbuz, a prosecuting attorney in The Pickwick Papers by Charles Dickens. Designed by Leslie Harradine, he wears a horsehair wig, a long black robe and carries a parchment scroll; a monocle hangs from a cord around his neck. His russet jacket, gray-green trousers and florid cheeks add color to the beautifully crafted figure. Measures 4” tall x 2 1/8” wide x 1” deep; base is 1 ¼” square.
All of the miniature Dickens characters designed for Royal Doulton by Leslie Harradine went out of production in the early 1980s, but this one bears an older stamp. The word Doulton is arched over England, both in black, with the name of the character also in black This stamp was used from the early 1930s -1949 (Doulton Collector’s Club, Christopher Evans, on line). The condition is excellent with no chips, cracks, stains, scratches or crazing. A great gift for any attorney – or collector!
