Done all in blue on white, this small character plate resembles Delft ware and has the same charm. The subject is a soldier sitting at a table in a pub. His plumed hat is on the table and a small glass is in his hand. His rifle and backpack rest against the wall. Much care has been taken in the rendering of his handsome facial features and the details of his clothing, right to the small buttons on his leggings. There’s a small cartouche at the bottom of the picture with the word Soldier in blue. Plate measures 4 ¼” in diameter x 5/8” high.
Mark on back is Enoch Wedgwood (Tunstall) Ltd arched over a unicorn head with England / Trade Mark / Founded in 1835. This mark was used by Enoch Wedgwood from 1965-1980 (The Potteries). Condition is excellent with no flaws, chips, cracks, scratches or crazing.
