This figurine is a little boy dressed in pastel colors, a blue cape and green Tyrolean hat. He walks along whistling as a goose walks beside him. He wears clogs and carries a folded umbrella. The figurine measures 4 ¾” tall with a 3 1/8” x 2 ½” base.
Mark on underside is an eagle wearing a crown with initials CS on its chest; used by Carl Scheidig from 1935-1972 (PM&M Image 1-06).
Carl Scheidig’s porcelain works in East Germany managed to stay free of state control during all the post war years, until 1972 when deepening economic crises caused the occupying Soviets to seize control of all manufacturing in the German Democratic Republic (PM & M). The piece we’re offering here was made during Scheidig’s years of independence.
Condition is excellent; like new.
