This beautiful cast metal horse and rider belong to the Queen’s Mounted Lifeguard; the rider wears the silver breastplate and gold helmet topped with an elaborate horsehair headdress typical of that rank. He holds his saber upright, out of the scabbard which hangs at this side. He sits on a fleece-covered saddle (made of rubberized plastic) wearing a red shirt, white trousers and tall black boots. His well-defined features show below his visor. The horse is jet black all over except for a white blaze on its face and white markings on two feet. Overall size is 3 5/8” long x 3 5/8” tall.
The piece stands on a painted green metal base 2 5/8” long x 1 1/16” wide. Underside of base is embossed with WBritain in script inside a rectangle and Pat Applied For / 1988 / England impressed underneath. Condition is excellent with no damage of any kind. This is a highly desirable, handsomely crafted piece typical of W. Britain.
