This charming figurine is of a little girl standing in the wind as her skirt blows about her and a butterfly perches on her hand. The figure is done all in white as are many of artist Achtziger’s pieces; still the details of the dress, with its deep ruffled yoke and child-size purse hanging at the waist, are as prominent as the figural butterfly which has the girl enrapt. The figurine is 6 3/8” tall x 3 5/8 wide at widest point.
Underside of base is marked in green with Hutschenreuther Selb in script over an oval with lion and LHS / Germany / Kunstabteilung; mark used 1955-1968 (International Ceramics Directory). Also impressed with Achtziger in capital letters. There is an original paper label in brown tones and a partial white label. The condition of the piece is excellent except for a small chip to the very end of the right forefinger (see last photo). This is really not easy to spot, but we have enlarged it to make it visible in the photos (and of course adjusted the price accordingly). A beautiful item!
