Here is a very large, very old white porcelain pitcher adorned with blown peonies and their leaves in a bold transfer of blue-gray. Measures 11 ¾” tall x 10” wide at widest point x 4 ¾” across foot. Pattern name is Duchess. Applied sculpted handle also decorated with blue-gray. Underside of lip and tall neck are especially lovely with a denser floral design on a blue-gray field.

Mark on underside is a shield with M L & Co on banner with a crown above and Duchess below. This is for Moore, Leason & Co. which owned The Old Foley Pottery at Longton, Stoke-on-Trent from 1892-1896 (The Potteries). The company name is also incised on underside.

Condition is great with some crazing which shows under a strong light. There are no cracks, chips, scratches or stains. This would make a beautiful floor vase.
