Here we have the elegant Herend coffee pot in the Rothschild Bird series with a handsome domed lid and open yellow rose finial. The lid bears a wide basket weave (osier) border, a ring of 24K gold and lovely hand painted butterflies. All of the decoration, of course, is meticulously hand drawn and hand painted by the Herend staff of talented artists.
The tall pot itself is adorned with a gorgeous pair of birds on each side, fanciful flying insects and butterflies. The sculpted handle and spout both are enhanced with hand painted swirls, scrolls and feathered motifs in 24K gold. The rim and foot also are ringed with gold.
Pot with lid measures 8 ¾” tall. It is 6 ½” tall without the lid x 6 ½” wide, spout to handle end. Lid alone is 2 ½” tall to top of finial, with a ¼” lip.
Mark on underside is the painted blue Herend back stamp over the glaze, used since 1948. Item number 612 is below mark. Table ring is unglazed.
Overall condition is excellent, but there is a regretful tiny chip to the underside of the applied rose on the lid. We have shown it enlarged in photo #5; in reality it is hard to see and could be used as it is, but some might want a bit of restoration. We have priced the piece accordingly. There is no other damage of any kind and no paint or gold loss.
This piece was purchased new approximately 30 years ago, and used only a few times since. Please see our other listings for additional Herend Rothschild Bird serving pieces, table place settings, and dessert plates.
