Herend Dinnerware Five Piece Place Setting (4 Settings Available)
We are offering five-piece Herend place settings in the stunning and much sought after Rothschild Bird pattern. We have 4 sets available, priced per set. Each setting has a mix of the 12 bird motifs of this classic Herend pattern.
Each piece has been designed and meticulously hand painted by Herend’s famous porcelain artists; each bears a wide border of delicately sculpted basket weave (osier) and each piece is trimmed with 24K gold. All pieces are adorned with the famous Rothschild birds as well as delicately drawn colorful butterflies, and fanciful flying insects; and all but a very few bear the famous pearl necklace misplaced by the Baroness Rothschild and found in a tree, the plaything of birds. All pieces have gently scalloped edges except the cup which has deeper scallops and a dainty handle also adorned with 24K gold.
Each place setting consists of:
1) Dinner plate 10” diameter, form #524
2) Soup or salad bowl 6 ½” diameter x 1 ½” tall, form #330
3) Bread and butter plate 6” diameter, form #514
4) Saucer 5 ½” wide x 1” tall, form #724. Saucer has bird image between center and edge so that it shows with cup on it.
5) Cup 4 ¼” rim to handle end x 2 1/16” tall, form #724. Cup has birds painted on side and dainty winged insects inside. Top edges scalloped and gilded. Sweet little sculpted handle gilded, richly adorned with gold dove tail motif.
All pieces bear the Herend back stamp painted in blue over the glaze, and each bears initials RO for Rothschild Oiseaux (Bird) as well as the form (or blank) number listed above and the pattern number 6. This back stamp has been in use since 1948.
All of the pieces we are offering are in excellent condition with no chips, scratches, cracks, or crazing. They are also free of any paint or gold loss and all of the charming, whimsical decoration is as perfect as when it was painted. This set was purchased new approximately 30 years ago and used only a few times. We know you will love this experience and we look forward to sharing it with you!
