This wonderful creation is graced with a wide pale blue border and yellow edging, both adorned with gilded beading. The border separates the white center of the plate from four large and four small cartouches, all of which are gold enameled by hand. The center of the plate bears eight open roses and three rose buds, all hand painted in shades from deep red to pink. The large cartouche centers are of the same blue as the border and hand painted with gold dots and a cross-hatch design. The overall effect of these touches is lovely and rich.
The unmarked plate measures 8 ¾” in diameter x 1 ¼” high. The porcelain is translucent - one can see through when it's held to light. The underside is glazed except for the table ring. There is a tiny bit of stray paint near one of the central roses and some gold loss to the beading. There are no real faults to this beautiful plate: no chips, cracks, scratches or crazing. It’s just waiting to be displayed!
