Here is an extra small miniature sad iron with an extra small trivet; both are cast iron. These are definitely toys, as the iron is too small for an adult to hold. The iron has some decorative impressed stripes to its handle. The cute little trivet is ornate and has a hole in the handle for hanging, and three short legs.
Both pieces are unmarked. The iron measures 2 1/3” long x 1 ¾” wide x 1 ¾” tall. The trivet is 4 ¼” long including its handle x 1 ¾” wide. Iron exactly fits on the trivet, but looks older. It is darkened, but not rusted; the ironing surface is rough.
We acquired the two pieces as a pair at an estate sale where the owners were collectors of small flat irons, so they may have originally been a set. We have a bit of doubt, however, even though they look charming together and are a perfect fit. We think you’ll enjoy owning them both; they are darling!
