Here we have a charming Old Cottage Chintz cream and open sugar set in the Ascot form with square tops and tapering sides, entirely covered with brilliant flowers over a “pebbled” background. Both pieces are generously highlighted with gold enamel.
The sugar bowl measures 2 3/16” tall x 2 ¾” square. The cream pitcher is 4 ½” from spout to end of handle x 2 3/8” tall. Both measure 1 ½” square at the base. They are signed in green with Royal Winton forming a circle around Grimwades and Made in England. This set was made between the early ‘30s and 1960.
There is light crazing as is expected on old chintz, a few stray kiln grains in the bottom of the pitcher, and a small 1/8" by 3/16" chip on the open sugar bowl. This chip can be seen in the first photo of the set, on the right front corner of the sugar bowl. Price reflects condition.
