Here is the Hammersley Annual Fine Bone China Bell for 1972. Decorated in sky blue on pure white glaze with gold paint for the iconic buildings, this bell depicts five enduring world monuments: St Paul’s, the US Capitol, St Basil’s, the Parthenon and the Taj Mahal, as it celebrates the 400th anniversary of poet John Donne. In gold enamel at top of bell, a line taken from a Donne poem reads, “They were to good ends, and they are so still.”
Inside of bell is signed The Annual Hammersley Bell 1972 over Hammersley Fine Bone China and Made in England. A little gold metal chain holds a ground porcelain clapper which gives a strong, clear tone. The bell measures 6” tall x 4” in diameter (handle is 3”). In excellent condition, the lovely bell has no chips, cracks, scratches or crazing. Great for a collection or as a stand-alone.
