This is a charming old Moliere bowl made by Rosenthal at Kronach, Bavaria. The center of the bowl is adorned with a lovely large pink rose with silver highlights and silver leaves. The sides of the bowl have five reticulated cartouches, each pierced six times. Between these and all around the top is scroll work, richly trimmed with silver enamel and pink.
The underside bears the mark, Elfenbein over a crown over two crossed swords with R on one side and C on the other, over Rosenthal in script / Kronach Germany / Moliere, all in green. This mark was used from 1901 until circa 1933. Bowl measures 7 ½” wide at widest x 2 ½” tall at tallest. Legs are about ½” long from table to bottom of bowl.
There is an unfortunate repair to one of the little curved legs (shown in 2 pictures), which can easily be done over properly. We regret this and have set the price of this sweet little item accordingly. There are no other faults or damage, no crazing, cracks, scratches or stains.
