Charles Field Haviland, Limoges Hand Painted Demitasse Cup and Saucer
This is a lovely antique demitasse cup and saucer in hand painted translucent porcelain from Charles Field Haviland of Limoges. Both pieces are adorned with an abundance of yellow and pink flowers; the cup with a colorful bird and the saucer with a butterfly, all in subtle pastel shades. Each piece is signed over the glaze on the underside with Ch. Field Haviland Limoges between two concentric circles in blue (Mark 3; 1859-1881) and CFH in green under the glaze (Mark 2; 1868-1881). So the date of manufacture was between 1868 and 1881. (Gaston p.151) The saucer measures 4 5/16” in diameter. The translucent porcelain cup is 3” across the rim to end of handle x 2 ¼” tall.
Condition is excellent with no chips, scratches, cracks or crazing. A sweet and delicate demitasse set of fine antique Limoges porcelain, just right for your collection!
