This is an exciting handmade piece of aventurine ceramic work glazed in deep greens, blues and grays. It has an irregular surface featuring artful kiln pops, iron inclusions and raised grains, rough to the touch. All of this is covered in a high-gloss glaze and embellished with a stylized applied flower in slightly lighter shades of the dominant colors. The little vase sits in the high-sided bowl which measures 6” in diameter x 1 ½” deep. Vase, from bottom of bowl, is 3” tall with a 1 ½” lip (opening to vase is ¾” diameter). Small pedestal is 3 ½” in diameter x ¼” high. Applied flower is about 3” long. Vase is signed on the underside with a large incised DC, no other marks. From the 1960s or ‘70s. This richly designed little item has no damage of any kind and is ready to join your collection or to grace your home.
