Here from Hammersley & Co. are eight applied poly chrome floral bone china coasters with gold enamel rims. Each coaster bears a different flower: strawberry blossom, rose, English violets, forget-me-nots, daffodils, pansies, fuchsia, and an English flower we can’t identify (small, bell-shaped, purple blossoms).
Hammersley mark on undersides: 5 have oak leaves and acorns over a turret under Bone China with Hammersley & Co and Made in England, a mark used from 1932-1988. 1 coaster marked Violets from England’s Countryside, and 1 has Grandmother’s Rose, over the same mark but smaller in size. (The rose one is printed in red.) The Strawberry Ripe coaster bears Hammersley over a crown, and may be from Hammersley/Spode. This coaster also has a slightly wider border of gold enamel.
All 8 measure 3 ½” in diameter; central well is 2 ½” wide; border is ½” on either side.
The forget-me-not coaster has some tiny flecks of excess gold enamel on the surface. The daffodil one has a small gold enamel x on the underside (shown) which may signify a second, as the blank is very slightly uneven. The other 6 coasters are in excellent condition with no faults or flaws that we could detect, and all 8 are free of chips, cracks, scratches or crazing. The transfer work is excellent on all pieces. They are very pretty, and will look great on your dining table.
We are also showing a set of four Hammersley floral coasters matching these and will be happy to combine shipping should you decide to purchase all twelve.
