Here is a charming and beautiful rabbit realistically crafted in glimmering crystal by American glass and ceramics artist, Katherine de Sousa for Val St Lambert Company of Belgium. The crystal figure gleams and seems to pick up every color and light around it. We’ve tried to capture this in the photos - in fact, it's hard not to!
Foil sticker reads Val St Lambert Belgium. Figure is also acid etched on underside: Val St Lambert over an M and a copyright mark, the company's US trademark, effective 1978. Underneath is deSousa’s signature, also acid etched. Val St Lambert Co. has been in business since 1825. Catherine deSousa is still active in the US and abroad. This rabbit was made circa 1980 and measures 4 ¼” long x 2 ½” tall.
There is a small nick (pen-tip size) on one side (shown with arrow) on the bunny's flank, hard to see but must be mentioned. There are some very shallow scratches or scuffs on the body when examined very closely. There are no other chips, scratches or damage.
This is a wonderful piece of crystal sculpture, pleasing in design, feel, and weight, and ready to bring pleasure to its new home.
