We're offering here a beautiful vintage blue and white cheese keeper by Royal Crownford in the hard-to-find Charlotte pattern. Piece consists of a plate and wedge-shaped lid, both white with the Charlotte pattern flowers and basket in blue. The plate measures 5 3/4" wide x 7 3/5" long while the lid is 5" long x 3 1/2" wide x 2 1/2" high at back and 1 3/4" high at front. There is a little oblong applied handle and an air-hole. Plate is signed on underside Charlotte, Royal Crownford, Ironstone, England with blue flower designs both above and below. There's also an incised number, S 883.
The plate has light age-related crazing on the underside, while the lid has some deep craze marks at the bottom of the front inside and out. These show some brown staining (pictured) which we have not tried to remove. There is some very light discoloration to the corners inside the plate which is hard to see. The piece is free of chips, scratches or cracks and will make a great addition to a collection. -- And shall we say again, it's lovely!
