Here are two amusing salt and pepper shakers shaped as horse heads, made of wood, wearing flat wooden hats decked with calico ribbons. Their manes are made of coarse rope fiber; their rather doleful features are hand painted. The hats (one red; one blue) unscrew for filling and the holes for sprinkling are in the tops of the hats. 1950s vintage shakers are 3 5/8" tall. The calico ribbons show a lot of wear. Wooden hats have paint loss, especially the blue one. The hats are hard to get back on if removed as wooden threads are worn. We highly recommend these loveable old figures for collectors.
